Listen to Bear Bryant Give a Political Speech

No, I don't normally listen to speeches by President Gerald Ford, or look for such things on Youtube.

Yet, I accidentally stumbled across this entry on Youtube: It is a recording of a President Ford campaign rally held at Mobile's Airport. This was back when Ford was running against Jimmy Carter.

When I saw that the recording was made at Mobile's airport, I decided to listen to it and see if I recognized any of the speakers. And I did. Especially Coach Bear Bryant!

When you listen, you will hear Alabama Congressman Jack Edwards acting as the emcee. He introduces the speakers, including Bear Bryant and Governor George Wallace.

The Bear points out that he, the Bear, is a democrat, but he still urges the crowd to vote for Republican Gerald Ford.

It felt odd to hear Bear Bryant talking about politics at a campaign rally. Click on the video below, and you can listen, too.

( By the way, I listened to Bear, but did not wait and listen to President Ford. I respect his service to our country, but I always found his speeches to be sleepy.)
