SOCIALIST SECRETS: Ocasio-Cortez Defends PRESS BAN, Calls Events ‘Sanctuary Spaces’
Socialist superstar Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doubled-down on her recent decision to ban the media from two town hall events over the weekend, referring to her speaking engagements as “sanctuary spaces.”
Cortez weighed-in on her controversial move to bar reporters from two hometown speeches Sunday, saying she should have labeled the events as “private” after coming under fire from multiple sources.
“Catching up on how this became a thing while I was gone. Biggest critique is it should‘ve been labeled ‘private,’ even though we’d said prior it was closed to press. Genuine Q?: how should we label a free campaign event, open to all, that’s a sanctuary space? Still private?” she tweeted.
Not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but we are genuinely trying to create environments of where our constituents feel comfortable expressing honestly & engaging in discourse.
Usually people pay $5k/plate for that, but we were trying to make that enviro for all.

Cortez has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks following a string of botched interviews; referring to Israeli settlers as the “occupiers of Palestine” and suggesting the “super wealthy” should pay for a universal healthcare system.
