Baldwin County Opens Shelter For Florida Evacuees

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) — The Coliseum in Robertsdale will open as an evacuation shelter at 2 p.m.

This is primarily for people who live in Florida who need a safe place to ride out the storm.

The county has authorized it to serve as a shelter for 3 nights.

As a result, tomorrow’s senior expo is cancelled in Baldwin County.

The Red Cross is operating the shelter and right now says it is not asking for any donations from the community, but that may change.

Last year during Hurricane Irma, the shelter served 450 people. It’s not clear yet just how many people will utilize it this time.

There are trailer/RV parking spaces, but no hookups.

Pets are allowed to shelter in the arena behind the coliseum, but MUST be in a crate/container of some sort.

Here's the address for the shelter in Robertsdale--
