NBC 15 reports the minor league officials have approved the sale of the Mobile Bay Bears. An investment group out of Arizona titled BallCorps made the bid and has requested the team immediately relocate to Madison after the sale.
Madison's Paul Finley says there's not a lot of information to give regarding timeline for this relocation.
"The talk of a baseball team is one of multiple, multiple things we are excited and that people are talking about,” Madison’s Mayor Paul Finley told NBC 15 back in July, adding “As far as being able to give any information whatsoever to help folks understand time frames, level of commitment or level discussion we are just not at that point yet,"
The next step in this roadmap is to get the sale approval from the minor league itself. This could happen in the next few weeks. Some estimates say the Bay Bears could be playing in Madison as soon as 2019.
NBC 15 is on the story and will provide updates as soon as they are available.
