ALABAMA DEEP SEA FISHING RODEO- Thurs (Liar’s Contest) 6pm; Fri 5am-Sun 5pm (Fishing), ADSFR site, Dauphin Island

The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, a Project of the Mobile Jaycees, is the largest fishing tournament in the world, attracting over 3,000 anglers and 75,000 spectators. The Liar’s Contest kicks things off Thursday. There will be live music at the Rodeo site through the weekend, including Rollin’ In the Hay (Thurs, after Liar’s Contest); The Molly Ringwalds (Fri 7:30pm); and The Red Clay Strays (Sat 5pm). CLICK HERE

APOLLO 11 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION- Sat/Sun 9am-5pm, National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola Naval Air Station

For the entire weekend, visitors who make a $25 donation will receive a limited edition Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin plus admission to the Giant Screen Theater’s “Apollo 11: First Steps Edition” and a ride on the new Apollo 11 Virtual Reality Attraction. There will also be a Space Explorers activity for children. PENSACOLA RUNNING OF THE BULLS- Sat 9am, Seville Quarter, downtown Pensacola

The tribute to Pensacola’s Spanish heritage is a safer reenactment of Pamplona, Spain’s Bull Run. Instead of participants chased by angry horned bulls, the Seville Quarter Encierro features the Pensacola Roller Gurlz as well as other ladies from roller-derby leagues as the “Bulls”CLICK HERE 

MARKET IN THE PARK- Saturdays through July 27th, 7:30am-12:00noon, Cathedral Square, downtown Mobile

Each year, the Mobile Arts Council and the City of Mobile Special Events Department work together to produce Market in the Park. Each week, the market features live musical performances, one-of-a-kind arts and crafts produced by local artisans, and locally grown produce, seafood, cheese and eggs, honeys, flowers and plants, baked goods, pasta, and more. CLICK HERE
