Mississippi is getting a visit today from a presidential candidate.

The Powerball jackpot is now over the half-billion-dollar mark. Lottery officials say no one picked all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing. That means Wednesday's jackpot will be worth 550-million-dollars. 

Funeral arrangements are pending for the man who became the first African-American police chief in Hattiesburg. David Wynn died on Friday. He was 64. Wynn headed up the city's police department from 2001 to 2007. The Hattiesburg American reports he was forced to resign when confidence in his leadership waned after more than 50 officers resigned following Hurricane Katrina.

A Moss Point woman is hospitalized in Alabama where she's being treated for gunshot injuries to the face. Police say the 40-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was on the phone Friday afternoon with a 911 operator at the time of the shooting. She had called to complain that her 16-year-old son had been assaulted by 28-year-old Keianna Gipson. That's when Gipson allegedly shot her in the face, only to be jailed later on charges of aggravated assault and shooting into a residence.

Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves won't be taking part in a GOP debate next month at Mississippi State University. Reeves says his non-participation is due to a scheduling conflict. As of now, the debate will go on April 2nd between Bill Waller Junior, former chief justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court and State Representative Robert Foster, of Desoto.

Mississippi is getting a visit today from one of the Democratic presidential candidates. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren plans campaign stops this morning in Cleveland and Greenville before heading to Jackson for a town hall meeting tonight. CNN plans to televise the event at Jackson State University but it's not open to the public.

Mississippi will have two teams in the NCAA men's basketball tournament but they'll be playing on opposite sides of the country. Mississippi State is in the tournament for the first time in ten years and will play Friday in San Jose, California against Liberty. State is a five-seed in the East Regional. Ole Miss is seeded eighth in the South Regional and the Rebels will play Oklahoma Friday in Columbia, South Carolina. Ole Miss is playing in the tournament for the first time since 2015.

And the basketball season is not over for Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles will travel to Virginia this week to play Longwood University in the College Basketball Invitational. That game Wednesday night will be the Eagles' first in the postseason since 2014.

A California woman who modeled her home after the Flintstones house is being sued by her town. Florence Fang adorns her lawn with statues of dinosaurs, mushrooms and even the cartoon character Fred Flintstone himself. But her neighbors say they're a public nuisance and the lawsuit alleged they were ordered to be removed in December. The home was originally constructed in 1976 and is a popular tourist destination along Interstate 280.

Police say a structure fire in Puna may have been caused by a woman killing ants with a blowtorch.  Last Thursday, 11 Hawaii Fire Department units responded to the Orchidland Estates subdivision where they found heavy black smoke and heard several small explosions. Fire officials say all structures on the property were destroyed and it took a couple hours to subdue the blaze. No injuries were reported and it's still unclear how much the damage will cost.
