A deadly double shooting in the Greene County town of McClain is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide. Police say the incident took place yesterday morning at a gas station on East Main Street. An investigation thus far has determined that 24-year-old Trevon Collins shot and killed 25-year-old LeDaniel Silas. Immediately afterward, police say Silas then drove the vehicle the two were in about 300 feet and killed himself with a 22-caliber revolver. No word on the motive.

Another judge will be hearing a civil suit filed in Mississippi against embattled rapper R. Kelly. The legal action was filed almost two years ago by Hinds County Deputy Kenny Bryant after he learned his wife had a relationship with Kelly both prior to and after their marriage that subsequently ended in divorce. Judge Adrienne Wooten recused herself from the case last week because of her previous involvement as an attorney with Bryant and his then-wife. Judge Faye Peterson is now assigned to hear Bryant's lawsuit against Kelly.
