Do you remember Hurricane Camille?
I do. I was living in rural Baldwin County, just outside of Fairhope. We spent the night huddled together inside our house's hallway, away from the windows. We suffered no structural damage, but the next morning, everything that we hadn't secured had been blown away.into neighbor's yards.
The damage was much worse on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Wikipedia claims Hurricane Camille is the third most powerful storm of it's kind to hit the United States.
259 deaths are attributed to Camille. It pretty much flattened coastal Mississippi.
If you are too young to remember Camille, or have forgotten what it was like, take a look at the documentary below.
Mobile Alabama based Youtuber Roland Fields just made this available to us. THANK YOU ROLAND!
