Alabama State Senator Gerald Allen wants to get rid of concealed carry permits in Alabama.
He says that because we have the 2nd Amendment and the Right to Bear Arms, we should have to pay to get a permit to carry a gun.
He has pre-filed a bill in the Alabama legislature that would eliminate the requirement to get a permit. The Alabama Senate passed Senator Allen's bill a few years ago. It did not pass the House, and never became Alabama law. We'll see what happens when the legislature goes back into session in March.
As you might imagine, people have a variety of opinions on the issue, especially the people who collect and use pistol permit money.
