City of Mobile Moves Holiday Tree Lighting to Mardi Gras Park

Below you will find the official City of Mobile Press Release:

Mobile, Ala.— The City of Mobile’s annual Lighting of the Tree has moved to Mardi Gras Park on Friday, November 30 from 5 to 8 pm.  Because last year’s event in Bienville Square drew such large crowds, the City ultimately needed to move to a larger space at Mardi Gras Park. To kick off the holiday season, please join Mayor Stimpson, Santa Claus, iHeartRadio’s Mixen the Reindeer and more.

“Come celebrate the season!” said Mayor Stimpson. “Our annual tree lighting ceremony will kick off our schedule of holiday events complete with live music, outdoor movies, elves and more. This is an important time to come together, and I encourage all of our citizens to take part in the merriment.”

For the young and the young at heart, there will be holiday music, story time with the Mobile Library, face painting, balloon clowns and snow.

The Salvation Army Canteen will be on-site with free coffee and hot chocolate. Mayor Sandy Stimpson and Major Tom Richmond of the Salvation Army will make the City’s first Red Kettle donation drop of 2018 for the Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama.

The Mayor will “throw the switch” for The Lighting of the Tree and the Ceiling of Lights on Dauphin Street promptly at 6:10 p.m. Be sure to get there early to enjoy all of the evening’s events.
